This week we are sharing information on how to take part in two SPRINT Project PhD students’ research! Michelle Schachtler Dwarika and Maria Kolitsida are both completing research focused on dancers and are currently recruiting for participants.
Keep reading to find out more about their exciting research and how to get involved!
Michelle is conducting research to inform the development of a mental skills training (MST) programme for freelance dancers. Mental skills training is grounded in sport psychology and seeks to support individuals to perform optimally whilst also promoting their mental wellbeing. Michelle would like to hear from freelance dancers about their experiences and thoughts about MST in dance via an individual interview.

Maria is conducting research on self-harm and disordered eating in dance students to understand how to support those who may be at risk. She would like to hear from dance students about their thoughts and/or experiences of self-harm, disordered eating and dance education via a confidential survey. Personal experience of self-harm is not necessary to take part.
As part of the research, dance teachers and support staff in private dance schools can also take part in a workshop on self-harm. They can provide feedback on the workshop via a short survey to help Maria understand how best to provide educational resources on self-harm in private dance education.
